My Hot Tub died after we had a power outage

Summer storms sometimes cause brownouts or power outages.  Occasionally, your electric company many experience service interruptions as well.  Usually, your hot tub will re-start when the power returns to normal, but occasionally it won’t.  Often, a hot tub power outage can be resolved without a visit from a repair technician.  There are several things to check before calling for service:
  1.  Has your circuit breaker tripped?  Many spas have two circuit breakers:  the first is a shutoff breaker or disconnect installed within 10 feet of the spa.  The second is in your home’s main breaker panel.  If the circuit breaker is in the “tripped” position, you can’t just turn it on.  You need to push it into the “OFF” position, then back into the “ON” position.
  2. Is your GFCI tripped?  A GFCI is required in all spa installations.  It is a micro-circuit breaker, much more sensitive to voltage fluctuations than a normal circuit breaker.  If the GFCI has been tripped by a power surge or brownout, just pressing the “RESET” button, if there is one, will turn the circuit, and your hot tub, back on.
